ABOUT THIS PIECE

“Search me, O God, and know my heart.” Psalm 139 opens with one of the most thorough declarations of divine knowledge in all of Scripture — God knows when you sit and when you rise, your thoughts before they form, your words before you speak them. By the time David reaches verse 23, he has spent twenty-two verses establishing how completely God already knows him. He is not giving God new information with this prayer. God already knows.

So what is David actually praying? He is surrendering to what is already known. He is choosing not to hide. He is asking God to surface what he cannot see himself — the hidden anxieties, the wrong paths, the thoughts he has learned to live around without naming them. “Search me” is not a request for information. It is a request for alignment.

I made Search Me for people who are tired of managing their own interior — people who have tried to examine themselves and come up short, people in seasons of spiritual conviction, or anyone who wants to pray this prayer every time they walk past it. It is not a comfortable piece. It is an honest one.
